Audi Catalytic Converter

Having a clean air has never been as important as it is today. That is why the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA has set emission standards to regulate the vehicles’ emissions. These standards have been one great challenge for car manufacturers to utilize technology to make refinements to their car and engines so that the cars will have less emission without compromising the performance of the car. Together with those refinements, they have equipped all Audi cars with an Audi catalytic converter.

The catalytic converter is a device made to clean the exhaust before it comes out of the car. The major by-products of combustion like water vapor, carbon dioxide and oxygen are harmless but because the process of combustion is not perfect, then a smaller amount of harmful substances are emitted too. These harmful gases are the hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide. The catalytic converter transforms the harmful substances into less harmful ones by using the two catalysts it contains: the reduction and the oxidation catalysts. The reduction catalyst converts the nitrogen oxides to nitrogen and oxygen. The oxidation catalyst then burns out the hydrocarbons and carbon monoxides to carbon dioxide and water. The oxygen sensor then makes sure that there is enough oxygen to burn unburned hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide.

Making sure that your Audi Catalytic converter is functioning perfectly is very important. You can check if your Audi catalytic converter is okay by the clean sound it makes when you rev up and the smell of the exhaust doesn’t smell like a rotten-egg. But if it does smell rotten and it whistles when you rev up then its time to change your catalytic converter. Our online store has a wide selection of Audi catalytic converters. Browse our easy to navigate online catalog and get the brand new catalytic converter for your Audi.
